Last night I watch the movie Kurt Cobain: About A Son. Anyone that has looked at all the Nirvana videos that have been made will quickly notice a hand full of good videos, and a ton of thrown together unlicensed crap to make a buck. This one didn’t have any videos or music by the the band, but did have some still shots near the end. Most of the video is just scenes of Seattle, Olympia, and Kurt’s home town of Aberdeen Washington. Over these scenes is recordings of Kurt talking about life and the band. It does give you a better look at the thinking process of Kurt Cobain and some light back story into his life growing up.
I was not aware until the credits that it was actually recorded interviews during the research for the book Come As You Are by Michael Azerrad. One of my top picks for a Nirvana book, that every fan should read!
Kurt Cobain: About A Son is not going to be overly exciting to the causal Nirvana fan, but is well worth a watch for anyone really into Kurt, and the band Nirvana.
Amazon has the movie on in both DVD and surprising also on Blu-Ray.
