Rights to Kurt’s Image

The nets are buzzing with news that Courtney Love has not controlled the rights to Kurt’s Image since 2010. According to the buzz around.. It would seem that she gave up the rights to France Bean Cobain in 2010 for a loan of $2.75 million from France’s trust fund. Until that loan is paid off she can not get any royalties from the likeness of Kurt Cobain.

Between them both they have a large collection of Kurt’s personal belongings in storage. They have not come to an agreement on who owns, or wants what. Reports suggest Bean owns 40% of it and Love owns 60% of the paintings, musical equipment, clothing, etc.

None of this has anything to do with the rights to songs. Larry Mestel of Primary Wave Music owns 100% of the administrative rights to Kurt Cobain’s Song Cataloge.

May 3rd to June 15th Courtney Love will be showing several of her own drawings at the Fred Torres Collaborations gallery. The exhibit is called “And She’s Not Even Pretty”. You can check out some of the work here.. I have to say that I am not a fan of this and it looks like something a public school kid made.. But to each there own.

Buisness Insider has posted the original Casting Call Flyer than apparently Kurt, Kris, and Dave handed out them selves at The Roxy in Los Angeles only 1 day before the shoot of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

SFBG Interview with Eric Erlandson (Letters To Kurt)

SFBG has posted a interview with Eric Erlandson. Recently Eric has been quoted as saying that Kurt Cobain had a full back log of solo material that could be the Beatles White Album. He sets the record straight on this and it seems he was miss quoted.

I think the writer chose to present that in a way that there was some hidden gem, or secret being revealed, but there is no secret being revealed, it was me speculating on what I had heard—which is what many people have heard, which is [the song ] “Do Re Mi.” It just had a different mood to it. I was speculating that that’s probably where he was headed, and said something about that White Album comment that somebody had made in the ‘90s — but I was tying it into the topic of suicide, and that’s the thing that he didn’t present in his interview.

Its a good interview and I might need to actually check out Eric Erlandson: Letters to Kurt Book.

Eric Erlandson reveales Cobain Lost Demos

Eric Erlandson is claiming that Kurt had a full album worth of demo recordings at the time of his death. He says that the recordings are some of Kurts best work.

Although he is not in control of the demo’s he says it would be shame if only a few people ever hear the songs.

Dave Grohl And Krist Novoselic Recording With Butch Vig

Buch Vig has Tweeted that he just finished up recording with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.

The last 24 hours have been surreal! Had a great gig at the El Rey last night, and spent today recording with Dave, Krist and special guest! — Butch Vig‏ @butchvig

No idea what they are recording, but Loudwire seems to think it could be the Documentary Dave is working on about “Sound City Studios where ‘Nevermind’ and classics like Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ were recorded”.

What ever it is, lets hope it gets released in some form.

Melvan Update 3 (Smells Like Failed Scam)

Alright so it has been a while since I posted anything and I was wondering myself what ended up happening with the Melvan.

It seems that after being reposted starting at $50,000 with no reserve price set that NOT ONE PERSON BID!

That’s right the van that just before hit $100,000 didn’t get a single bid this time around.
